That Spanish 101 Journal

This is a tribute to all members of the dysfunctional family (and friends), no matter where they are right now.
Once a dysfunk, always a dysfunk.
(Yang tributenya bukan Spanish Journal nya, tapi posting ini!!!)



2 hari yang lalu gw disuruh bikin jurnal di kelas Spanish gw. Perintahnya "The best summer in your life".

Menurut gw summer terbaik (yang sekaligus mungkin juga adalah saat terbaik) di hidup gw adalah summer 2005. Itu adalah saat gw dan sekelompok orang2 yang rada2 gelo kumpul dan tinggal seruma dan bisa2nya ngelakuin hal2 yang gila dan bodoh, tapi fun sekali. Listnya panjang.

Ada...
- Sepedaan dari OUP ke Monona Terrace sampe capitol. Jalannya ngelewatin Edgewood juga. Tour de Madison.

- Terus ada lagi yang pulang sekola langsung jalan keluar kota (Lil Swiss).

- Tongkrongan ga jelas di Michael's Frozen Custard ato Walmart.
- Terus ke Dogfest juga.

- Bratfest.

- Maxwell Street Day.
- Adu kentut2an (banyak korban)...
- Bantuin Moe pindahan. Malah jadi tidur2an di Futton di rumput2 hahaha... Ga jelas terus foto2.

- Ngeliat bulan purnama bareng2 di lapangan parkir Sentry (bener2 ga jelas, hahaha)...
- Farewellnya si Steph Budijono yang bener2 outdoor banget. BBQ-an.


- Ngeliat the Madison from height at Midnite in that Park which name I always forget. Gara2 terlalu gelap gw jujur waktu itu sampe takut banget sih hahaha... (Sorry Reg, this is obviously not the Olin-Turville Park. Additional info, Reggie says it's Hoyt Park. Kayanya bener sih.)
-Picnic di park deket Edgewood lupa namanya (additional info from Reggie : the name of the park is Wingra Park. Let's just assume the ultimate bullier's rite, hehehe, peace Reg).

- Foto2 narsis yang hasilnya wow banget, oleh Chris di apartemen Chris. Mira bantuin make-up. These photos can always be seen until now, hangin around.

- Olbrich Botanical Garden (gw kena kesura dan jari tenga tangan kiri gw dioperasi oleh mereka dengan menggunakan jarum pentul, gunting dan jarum2an laen yang dipanasin pake lilin biar steril dan dicuci dengan alkohol. Rasanya gimana? Tanya aje sama yang denger tangisan gila gw saat itu, kayanya mereka cukup ngerasain deh gimana sakitnya gw...)

- Allen Centennial Garden, dengan foto2 yang maksimum kadar narsisnya.

- Henry Villas Zoo. Go Snoozy!!! Hehehe...

- Ketawa2 ga jelas gara2 si Snoozy Snusanti di Edo Buffet.
- Naek Beetlenya si Manda ke Borders University Ave sebelom tenga malem, nungguin buku Harry Potter keluar taon itu karena si Manda dan Kolek udah pre-order. Banyak banget anak2 kecil ga jelas. Terus gw beli buku laen (Anthropology and the Vagina Monologue, I still remember til now), hahaha ga 'Harry Potter' banget. Si Manda sama Kolek cepet2an baca, mo spoil each other gitu. Jahat abis... Hahaha, akhir2nya si Manda kelar duluan gara2 si Kolek bacanya hanya disambil ketika boker. Untung aje kita ga datengnya pake baju penyihir kaya anak2 yang laen pada ngantri gitu, hahaha...
- Ice skating, yes, in SUMMER!!

- Belom ditamba yang kaya ke Noah's Ark nginep di WiscDells. That was so very fun. Ada karikatur juga, definitely will never forget it.


- Ada juga session ngajarin si AAG (the other brother) berenang. Terus maen2 di kolam sama Chris, Mira dan Eveline juga. (Addition by Manda : Gunawan juga ada). Ada saat2nya orang2 ini ikutan nginep. Makin rame makin seru.





- Terus ada maen Dread Pirate (board game gitu) dari tenga malem sampe jam 7 pagi, dilanjutkan dengan Battle ship dengan tampang yang dah ga jelas gimana.
- Nonton 4th of July fireworks up-close-and-personal lengkap dengan lagunya yang bikin sampe hampir nangis di Warner's Park.

- Masak2 ga jelas, (biasanya yang sering sih roti canai --- sering gw gosongin maksudnya) ato saat lagi males, aksi beli frozen food secara massa gila2an.

- Terus ada juga session ngehias base camp (ruma Manda OUP #201) dengan lampu2 buat farewellnya Gunawan. It was one of the most unforgettable moments in my life.


- Ngegotong (a.k.a nyuri) futton dari rumput2an sebelah OUP ke base camp (yang mengakibatkan skrg futtonnya Manda ada 2 lapis hahaha)... Bego abis, asli lucu...
- The crazy image of excessive stock of clothes in my sister's bedroom because the two people were moving in. Hahahaha... Then the soap, the bathtowel, the toothbrush, and the toothpaste came in, too. Hahahaha...
- Gurnee Mills and Bucca di Bepo

-Nautigal (best clam chowder so far in my life)

- Paintball

- Mass buying of slippers in different colors. I was red, she was blue, my brother was white and my grandpa was black. This was made possible by Walmart. Hahahaha... Correction : My sister didn't buy the slippers because she already had the blue ones with cats on them. Hehehe... Credit of Corrections goes to my sister herself. DANG IT I don't believe we don't have any pictures of these slippers. Man, can you help me with this?
- Chicago trip berame2, pertama kalinya naek sepeda berame2 hahaha...

- Terus dilegitimasikan dengan aksi pinjem PS2 nya si Moe lengkap beserta Karaoke Revolution 3, yang kita nyanyiin sampe semuanya Platinum regardless how difficult the songs are, nyanyi dari jam 11 malem sampe jam 7 pagi sampe mata ga bisa buka dan sampe suara sember. Jangan salah, mission was completed!!! (In the journal there went the quote "It was the stupidest but most fun nite in my life"). This caused irrepairable total hatred to the song "Don't You Forget About Me". Setelah nyanyi2 masi bisa foto, tampang ga jelas, sleep deprived.

- so much more sampe gw ga bisa mention satu persatu.

There were 4 of us, living in a small unique place we love. Definitely all of us have very specific and dear memories with the base camp. I could say it was the best summer in my life, when we were lively at day and energetic at nite. We only died out in the morning before noon. We were so very young. This was also the time where I got my tolerance to alcohol greatly improved. Thanx to my ugly bro and my grandpa, I'm not lettin you guys down! I'm still the youngest little lady in the family who can say "I don't have problem with drinkin, I'm from Madison, (and were trained by you guys)!" Hahahaha...


When I shared this to my grandpa and my sister, they said "that had been also by far my best summer". Then it struck me, how glad to know that the best of someone else has me in it. I was in that best memory. Hopefully I played a role that made that memory the best for them, because they definitely did to mine. I didn't share the journal experience with my bro, we believe our beloved ugly brother also thinks that that's the craziest and funnest time of our lives...

I wonder, I think it all started at the Spring 2005 GradNite, when one of us (the grandpa) said "Keluarga gw yang sebenernya ga dateng buat acara ini, but I'm pleased to invite you guys as my family." We were so very touched. Then the great story began.


Really, having a dysfunctional family is one of best things in my life.


Also thank you to other members of dysfunk that didn't live / share bathroom with us all the time, and close friends of the family (Chris and Mira), you helped our summer be a memory of a lifetime! :)
