The Lion King by Broadway

was definitely entertainin and pushed me to think the whole show!

Went to Milwaukee to watch this show yesterday nite with Amanda, Adeline, and Barry.

The idea is to present the whole pride rock population, while the artists are 100% human. Colorful costumes are a must. The coreography is detailed and the slightest movements are made in a way that the message the animals want to pass on can be shown when they elegantly move.

How to make an elephant, giraffes, flying and singin wild birds, and leopard out of human? How to make the green grass that sways when it was blown gently in rhythm by the wind? How to make the jungle king looks playful when he's teasing his baby son? The show was relatively well engineered. Stage is dynamic (like any Broadway shows). One that really tickles me is how to make the shape of Mufasa (the late lion king) out of stars? The answer was unguessable. ;)

But anyway if you watched the cartoon already, you'll find that there are some dramatic things you expect would be present in the Broadway version aren't really there, but I understand that these things are not the easiest thing to represent in real life theatrical show. I really appreciate what the Broadway show currently has. Creative.

If you plan to watch the show, my most important tips for you would be : Do not (in any way) miss the opening of the show, the start of the second half, and the end. If you miss those, you miss half of spirit of the show already. And if you intend to watch the show, it's really worth it to have an orchestra level seat, most specifically the end ones of the rows ;) I was so very lucky to have this kinda seat.

At the end, my distinctive appreciation belongs to the artists playing Zazzou the bird, Timon, and the percussion artist. No other words but "Great job". :)
