Belief and what we realistically do
If you work in a tobacco / cigarette industry and you're a person who listens to your heart when working (regardless of what you're doing), would you feel that you contribute something in killing 1200 people daily while you're working?
If you're a high class manager in fast food restaurants, would you feel you take part in clogging people's arteries with cholesterol and making them vulnerable to heart diseases, no 1 killer in the United States (and in the world)?
If you work at a soft drink company, would you feel you contribute something to giving diabetes (along with dental deterioration) to people?
If you work at a liquour company, would you feel partly responsible for innocent people who died on road kill?
If you work in a petroleum company, would you feel bad that it's very possible you're one of those people worsening the greenhouse effect, though what you're doing keeps everything in the world running in reality?
If you are a chemical engineer working in a herbicide-producing plant, should you feel the responsibility of decreasing quality of soil though what you're doing makes sure millions of people can eat each day?
If you trully sincerely believe that global warming is THE top priority issue for mankind right now, and you know that you're in the position where what you do / trained to do so far does not help in any way, what should you do?
If it goes back to you personally, what would you do? Will you retain what you'd love to do for life, or will you trust values you believe in?
At the end, we always know, as the ancient wise line says "there's no such thing as a free lunch". Gotta do what we're best in to keep us alive.
*sigh... in need of an answer, not merely an argument...*
